SUMMARY:Pete Rodriguez Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Featured on three Grammy-winning records\, Pete Rodríguez is a triple-threat virtuoso trumpeter\, vocalist\, and percussionist whose artistry commands every stage. Playing with musical legends Tito Puente\, Branford Marsalis\, Eddie Palmieri just to name a few. Pete brings a powerful cultural legacy: he is the son of legendary salsa singer Pete “El Conde” Rodríguez and the godson of Fania Records co-founder and salsa pioneer Johnny Pacheco. His original compositions push genre boundaries with unapologetic rawness and narrative depth\, and his latest record\, ‘I’m Pete Rodriguez\, Volume 1’ is a masterclass in heritage-driven innovation\, redefining what Afro-Cuban jazz can be. \n“He possesses a full rich sound on both trumpet and flugelhorn and his technique is incredible. It is as a composer that his development is even more amazing.” – Kenny Barron \n“…a profound declaration of his own distinct artistic identity… he seamlessly weaves sophisticated harmonies and intricate polyrhythms… into a modern jazz framework\, creating a sound that is both deeply personal and strikingly innovative.” – Latin Jazz Network

SUMMARY:Sunday brunch with Peter Janson
DESCRIPTION:Guitarist Peter Janson lives in Boston Massachusetts and has been forging his path as an independent solo guitarist since 1999. Building what he considers a meaningful life\, Peter’s music events are an important part of that – he performs concerts\, and tours regularly\, founded his own Eastern Woods Music label\, gives guitar workshops\, and he directs jazz ensembles and private guitar lessons at the University of Massachusetts Boston. There aren’t many jazz guitarists today focusing exclusively on solo guitar\, but for Janson playing solo jazz guitar is both his passion and love – he is inspired by the solo guitar works of players like Pat Metheny\, Kurt Rosenwinkel\, and Wolfgang Muthspiel\, as well as jazz legends such as Joe Pass\, Earl Klugh\, and Jim Hall. Now growing in international recognition\, Peter signed worldwide sub-publishing deals with STOMP Music Korea and with UK-based SUPREME SONGS Limited in October 2022. \nGrowing up in Cambridge Massachusetts\, Peter listened to his father\, an accomplished amateur guitarist\, play solo guitar every day. Given his first guitar at the age of seven\, Peter started doing pop gigs at age 15. For the last twenty-five years\, he has performed extensively throughout North America; most notably at Carnegie Hall and the Montreal Jazz Festival. His music has been placed in video games\, commercials\, and news documentaries\, charted on Billboard for 11 weeks in the top 10 (as a session guitarist)\, and has a growing base of fans from 137 countries. His latest recording\, Getting To Here\, is in rotation on over 75 radio stations globally\, as well as on streaming formats. \n“As a musician\, I have continued to grow through the exploration of numerous genres. After many years\, jazz form\, language\, and sensibility have returned to become the place where I can make music. I didn’t want too formal a structure to work on\, but rather an improvisational base. There is a need for me to work as a solo guitar player – exploring styles and improvising. It gives me joy and helps me understand life in a way nothing else does. I embrace traditional elements\, acoustic nylon-string sounds\, and form\, and merge them with sound-enhancing tools and chance. I see no important difference between genres\, just as I see no difference between making music and the everyday aspects of life. Performing music\, reading a novel or poetry while sipping a cup of coffee\, teaching a student\, they are all related.”

SUMMARY:Sunday brunch with Bees Deluxe
DESCRIPTION:Bees Deluxe\, Boston’s acclaimed British/American modern blues band semi-finalist at The International Blues Challenge held in Memphis 2026\, and winners of the 2025 New Hampshire State Blues Challenge. \nBees Deluxe play innovative originals with bold reinterpretations of songs by Billie Holiday\, B.B. King\, Etta James\, Otis Rush\, Billie Holiday\, Burt Bacharach\, Joe Zawinul and other musical icons. The result is a sound that’s deeply rooted in tradition yet thrillingly unpredictable\, described by Blues Blast Magazine as “what might happen if Freddie King took a lot of acid then wrote a song with Pat Metheny and asked a strung-out Stevie Ray Vaughan to take a solo.” \nFounded by British guitarist Conrad Warre\, whose career spans collaborations with Joe Jackson\, The English Beat\, and performances in legendary London venues\, the band also features Carol Band\, a classically trained pianist turned powerhouse harmonica player and songwriter. Bees Deluxe has toured from Maine to Miami\, sharing stages with Ronnie Earl\, Joanne Shaw Taylor\, Walter Trout\, Matt Schofield\, Mike Zito\, Roomful of Blues\, and other top-tier artists. \nTheir last album “Hallucinate” gathered critical praise in both the United States\, and in Europe including the comment “The music\, for me\, has the same impact that Steely Dan did with their first couple of albums. They play very tight Blues that sounds as though they are jamming but this is very tight\, and the playing is absolutely superb.” — from Andy Snipper\, Music News.

SUMMARY:Laura Dubin Trio
DESCRIPTION:For the outstanding pianist/composer Laura Dubin\, the serious pursuit of jazz expression began at the age of 12 in her native Rochester\, NY. In 2007 she embarked on a 7-year journey of study and performing that brought her to various points in the U.S. and Latin America; and now Laura’s path has come full circle to her hometown. \nWith her husband and musical partner\, drummer Antonio H. Guerrero – who she met during her 2011-2012 stint with a jazz trio on Holland America Line cruise ships touring Europe\, French Polynesia and the Caribbean; and with whom she performed in clubs\, major venues and festivals while they were living in Mexico City from 2013-2014 – Laura returned to Rochester in 2014\, quickly becoming a thriving member of its cultural scene both as a performer and educator. Now\, in the present day\, Laura and Antonio are among the most sought-after jazz musicians in the region (both as a duo and as members of the Laura Dubin Trio)\, consistently delighting and wowing audiences of all ages with their unique and highly personal style of music. \nAfter establishing themselves in Rochester in 2014 and quickly gaining acclaim as a popular ensemble\, the Laura Dubin Trio reached a new plateau with a triumphant featured performance at the prestigious Rochester International Jazz Festival in 2016. They went on to perform at the festival again in 2017\, 2019\, 2023\, and 2025 – and they are scheduled to perform in 2026 as well. The 2016 performance was recorded and then released as an album later that year. Following her two previous albums – 2013’s “Introducing the Laura Dubin Trio\,” and “Laura Dubin Plays the Great American Songbook” in 2015 – “Laura Dubin Trio Live at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival” is undeniable evidence of the development of a highly promising young musician into a mature and powerful new presence on the contemporary jazz scene. Where her debut album included ten original compositions and the second featured her original arrangements of ten classic songs by Gershwin\, Porter\, Berlin and other legends of song\, the live album combines her outstanding composing and superb arranging skills to reveal an artist of depth\, command and originality – further expressed through her own unique take on the “mashup” concept. \n

SUMMARY:DRD Modern Organ Trio
DESCRIPTION:In 2019\, right before the world shut down\, St John’s Music Professors Dyan D and Danny Borg carefully crafted amazing courses working with the students in the Queens Campus. Danny and Rafael met at their time in NYU when they themselves were students. It was one afternoon where Danny united us all and formed our first version. Playing for the students and understanding the concept of spontaneity and improvisation. They loved it\, and a new music bond and friendship was born. We are thrilled to be promoting our new album which comes out in 2024: The DRD Modern Organ Trio. It encompasses the tradition of old meeting the minds and styles of the new.
