ABOUT
Thank you for your interest in the fifth annual Rally for Rebecca 5K Walk-Run-Roll and Fun Run. Proceeds from the event will support the nonprofit organization Help Hope Live, in honor of Plainview resident Rebecca Koltun. Participants are invited to join virtually or in person.

ABOUT REBECCA
It’s hard to believe it’s been five years! On March 13, 2021, Rebecca, then 21 years old, suffered catastrophic injuries to her neck and spinal cord in a life-threatening ski accident.

Today, she remains paralyzed from the neck down. But thanks to the generosity and support of family, friends and neighbors – and the proceeds of fundraisers like this 5K – Rebecca is enjoying a new, fulfilling life.

Nonetheless, the cost of Rebecca’s medical care is staggering. She requires round-the-clock nursing care as well as regular physical, occupational, and respiratory therapies. The equipment she needs just to get through the day includes a custom wheelchair, adapted van, electronic hospital bed, and Hoyer lift, and a host of medical supplies – all of which require ongoing maintenance and replenishment. The lifelong cost of her care approaches $200-300k/year. You can find more information about Rebecca’s story and the cost of caring for a spinal cord injury here.
