BENEFICIARY
Daniela Marie Conte was a vibrant 8-year-old. She enjoyed doing what most 8-year old girls do such as hanging out with her friends, building Legos, doing puzzles, singing, reading, coloring, and spending time with her family. Daniela was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare pediatric cancer, on October 5, 2016, and fought courageously for 4 years. After a fight like no other, Daniela lost her fight against this terrible disease on March 2, 2020, due to a combination of a fourth relapse and complications from a procedure.
Although Daniela was taken from us far too early by her illness in March 2020, her generous spirit lives on through the Daniela Conte Foundation. The Daniela Conte Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit childhood cancer foundation and our mission is providing financial and memorial support to families of children with cancer, raising awareness, and funding research to help kids fighting cancer.
The Butterfly 5k benefits the Daniela Conte Foundation so that we can continue our fight against childhood cancer. 40,000 children undergo cancer treatment each year. The average age at diagnosis is 5 years old and one in five kids will die. It’s the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15 in the U.S. Every day, approximately 250 kids around the world die from cancer, accounting for 91,250 losing their lives to the disease every year. All proceeds from this event will go to help kids battling cancer with financial and memorial support.
Join us in this very important cause! Whether you’re a runner or walker, we’d love to see you at the start line.
